Cranberry Cake and Butter Sauce

This is the recipe that has been served for many years at the holiday party hosted by Kathy, Char and Linda for many years.  Both the party and this cake have been a highlight of the season for many people for many years.

Cake Ingredients:

  1. Cream sugar and Crisco in a mixing bowl until mixture is light and fluffy.
  2. A dd the 3 egg whites to mixture and combine until well mixed.
  3. Mix flour, soda and salt in another bowl.
  4. A dd flour mixture to eggs and Crisco and sugar mixture alternating with the milk.  Mix until smooth. The beat on high for 2 minutes.
  5. Pour mixture into lightly greased and floured 9 x 13 inch pan or bundt pan.
  6. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

Butter Sauce Ingredients:

Put all ingredients into a double boiler pan.  Place on low heat and stir until sauce thickens.  Then pour over cake.

Can be refrigerated or frozen.  Warm by placing in the microwave.
