www.amazon.com - Everybody uses
this site all the time, right? Me too. But have you taken
advantage of the "Wish List?" I keep track of books this
way for all sorts of reasons, including for a wish list. A
great site.
www.mapquest.com - How did we
get along before this site? I use it all the time to generate
directions to places. One of the more useful parts of it freeway
exit numbers in the directions.
www.yahoo.com - Although this site
isn't my main seach engine any longer (Google is getting disappointing
sometimes too), there is so much more to this site. Several of the
organizations I'm in store files in the briefcase making the latest
versions of rosters accessible to key people.
www.annandaleonline.com
- Annandale Online has information about my community, and I don't
think that's wonderful just because I put it all there myself.
Really.
www.griver.org -
As a library card holder in the Great River Regional Library system I
love being able to do a search on a book (or video or whatever) and have
it sent right to the library in Annandale, just one mile from my house,
and someone calls me when it arrives.
www.walkerart.org
- The Walker Art Museum's website stretches me even more than the
actual museum.
www.imbd.com -
Internet Movie Database - Amazing lists and search capabilities for
movies.
www.ptech.wsj.com
- Walter Mossberg, Personal Technology journalist, writes for
"the technology-befuddled Everyman." He is my guru.
www.cnet.com - Lots of
good things in this site about computers and technology, but I
especially appreciate the price comparison capabilities.
www.snopes.com - This
Urban Legend Reference Page has all the latest legends flying around the
Web, including the lowdown on which ones are true and valid (not
many). I have replied to many emails suggesting that the sender
bookmark this page -- sometimes not too politely. C'mon ...how
can people still believe that Microsoft will send them hundreds of
dollars for revealing their address book?
www.memotome.com - This site
will send you email reminders on a one-time basis or on a regular
basis. I use it a lot.
www..wikipedia.org
- Good 'ol Wikipedia. Answers to so many questions!
