There are blocks of rooms saved for Shannon and Seth's wedding guests at the AmericInn in Annandale (320-274-3006) and at the Country Inn in Buffalo (763-682-5660). Ask for the "Bishop-Lengkeek Wedding" block of rooms. The Thayer's Historic Bed and Breakfast is on the member of the National Register of Historic Places and is located in Annandale.
DINING
Eating in Annandale: There are two cafes right in Annandale, Lu's Cafe on Main Street and Homestyle Cafe on Hwy 55. The pizza from Jimmy's Pizza is good, and China King is located right next to the Market Place grocery store. For local flavor, we recommend the cafes in Annandale or the adjacent small towns (yes, smaller than Annandale), Mom's Cafe in South Haven, 6 miles west on Hwy 55, or Maple Lake Cafe, 6 miles east in downtown Maple Lake. Of course there's a Subway and a DQ, and other places too.
AIRPORT
The major airport you will probably fly into is Minneapolis/St. Paul (MSP). It is about 70 miles from Annandale and is the major hub of Northwest Airlines, so there many direct flights. Another smaller, closer airport is in St. Cloud, about 28 miles from Annandale.
TIME
The wedding is at 4:00 p.m. followed by a dinner and dance.
THINGS TO DO
If you have some extra time to spend in Minnesota, there are lots of interesting things to do.
In the Annandale Area there are a number of interesting Gift Shops, and our renown Flea Market called Swapper's Meet opens at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. The art gallery, Snooty Fox, is right across the street from the coffeeshop, In Hot Water. There are some other Sites of Interest around Annandale including the Minnesota Pioneer Park, and Cardinal Kingdom is the big playground by Bendix Elementary.
WEATHER
No, Minnesota is NOT always cold! The mean temperature in central Minnesota on August 30th is 67 degrees with an average high of 77 degrees and average low of 57 degrees. Now that's not so bad, is it? Sunrise on August 30th is at 6:34 a.m. and sunset is 7:51 p.m.
Be advised that the wedding and reception are outside and in a tent, so please dress accordingly.
